Welcome to Paulus Hook Music Foundation’s official website.

The Paulus Hook Music Foundation was established in 2016 to promote classical music in the NY/NJ metropolitan area through concerts and educational programs.Started by a resident of Paulus Hook and avid supporter of classical music, Qianci Liu, a world renowned Chinese American cellist. Its primary mission is to bring Chinese and American musicians together to promote the exchanges and music education between China and the United States and to spread the joy of classical music to new audiences.

The foundation provides a variety of consultant services, such as present concerts, music education programs, career development and cultural exchanges for local and International Entrepreneurs、international students and young professionals.https://wordpress.com/page/paulushookmusicfoundation.com/540

The foundation also sponsors the New York Big Apple Music Festival, New York International Contemporary Music Competition and New York International Symphony Orchestra. 

The founder: Cellist Qianci Liu

Qianci Liu earned her master’s degree in cello performance from Manhattan School of Music. She has 15-year experience in performing arts industry as a performer, instructor, composer, recording artist, and Carnegie Hall concert producer. She is the Executive Director of Paulus Hook Music Foundation, New York Big Apple Music Festival and New York International Symphony Orchestra.

Qianci was a cellist at the Shanghai Opera House Orchestra. She took the role of the principal cellist in Broadway Musical The Lion King Shanghai Tour in 2005, and performed as a soloist for the Shanghai Bund Lights Show Walking in the Bund. Qianci participated in many recording projects including Global Music Award winning album On and Between composed by Zhen Chen, and soundtrack Waiting for Me composed by Shanghai-based composer Wei Luo for China Central Television (CCTV) TV series. Her other major commercial releases include A Cellist in the Shaoxing Road, Xian Qin, Little Reunion, and Pray for the World. Most recently, Qianci composed for a music animation Lily, to Mom, and a piece for Cello and Jazz Band Candy.

Qianci has been a music instructor at Shanghai American International School, as well as Shanghai Ai-Ju Elementary School. She also has been assigned by Kaufman Music Center to teach at Frank Sinatra School of Arts. She has been a cello instructor at Starworks Music Studio in White Plains, NY since 2021 and a private cello studio in downtown Jersey City, NJ.
